The tea leaves for this Kabuse Sencha were picked in the famous village Hoshino in Yame. Hoshino means translated “star field”. A fitting name as in this remote mountain valley the stars shine especially bright. Kabuse Sencha from mountain valleys such as Yame are a rarity because, due to the lower temperatures, the harvest starts about a month later than in deeper and shallower growing areas. The lower temperatures, however, lead to more intense and complex aromas.

Hoshino Kabuse Sencha Kirari 31 features leaves from the renowned Kirari 31 cultivar. This remarkable new cultivar that was officially registered in 2015 and has swiftly gained widespread recognition. It is widely regarded as a strong contender for becoming a new standard, alongside esteemed varieties like Yabukita and Saemidori. The Kirari 31 cultivar is the result of a skillful crossbreeding of the Sakimidori and Saemidori varieties.

Its unique characteristics contribute to the creation of green teas that offer an exceptional sensory experience, delighting tea enthusiasts with their rich flavors and captivating aromas.
