This exceptional Fukamushi Sencha is grown in the small village Ujitawara. Fukamushi sencha is characterized by a longer steaming time compared to standard sencha. This tea is mild and the sweetness is predominant.
For our Premium Sencha Fukamushi are Shincha leaves of the excellent varietal Saemidori used. Tea made from Saemidori varietal tastes much sweeter than a tea made of Yabukita which is usually used. Since Saemidori is less frost resistant than Yabukita it’s only grown in southern regions such as Kyoto and Kagoshima and therefore also for Japanese people a special rarity!

The village Ujitawara located in Kyoto Prefecture, not far from Uji. Kyoto itself is referred to as the birthplace of Japanese tea ceremony and also of many well-known teas such as matcha and gyokuro.
