This shincha aracha is grown in the small village Ujitawara. Aracha is an unsorted green tea which still contains all the ingredients of the harvested tea. Unlike sencha, which consists only of tea leaves, aracha also contains the teas stems. This stems are usually sorted out and sold as karigane. By using all ingredients this tea gets a pristine, harmonious aroma.

Ujitawara is located in Kyoto Prefecture, not far from Uji. Kyoto is well known as the birthplace of Japanese tea in general and also of many well-known types of tea such as matcha and gyokuro.

Preparation: In this blog post you will find a description of how to brew Japanese green tea in an optimal way.
Tip: Use rather a higher leaf to water ratio and infuse repeatedly for short time. First infusion max. 60s and all futher infusions only 30s as the leaves are already soaked. Use a Kyusu tea pot.
