The tea leaves for this shincha sencha is grown in the small village Ujitawara. The tea is made from the very first harvest of the year. Due to the very early harvest this tea gets the typical refreshing flavor of shincha tea. In addition, the teas sweetness is accentuated due to the deeper steaming of fukamushi style tea.

Ujitawara is located in Kyoto Prefecture, not far from Uji. Kyoto is well known as the birthplace of Japanese tea ceremony and also of many well-known types of tea such as matcha and gyokuro.
